Trunk lid
Hey guys ....I had already posted this in specialty but don't think too many ppl look in there so I'm going to try it here.
Hi guys, I was wondering how the heck I get my trunk lid to work again. The person before me had taken off the trunk lid to put an amp and subs etc. and never bothered to put those cross pieces back I have them here but not installed. So my trunk lid doesn't stay open ( it's a pain in the butt ) and he disconnected the power trunk and the license plate light. So if anyone could in detail or pics if you have or even a website to show me how to put back those cross pieces would be a GREAT HELP!! Thanks |

Just take a look at someone elses setup. My car was missing the torsion bars altogether.
After many years, I got tired of it and went to the junkyard to check out another notchback. I proceeded to take the torsion bars off of that 'stang and put them in mine. It's really quite simple...a little bit of a PITA...but simple nonetheless. Good luck,

Are you guys talking about the gas struts that hold the hatch open?

Negative.
We're referring to the torsion bars/springs/rods that hold up the TRUNK LID on 'coupes'. One end of each rod is attached to a little hole in the "hinge" to which the trunk lid is bolted. The rod then travels across the trunk compartment below the package tray (while sort of twisted around the *other* rod) and attaches to a 3 or 4 position bracket at the other end of the trunk. Once you hold them up in there and stare at it for a while, you'll see how they go.

Thanks lxfiveoh I'm getting closer now, but now what do you mean little hole on "hinge"? I know where to put the rod in the bracket on the one side just can't figure the "hinge" hole side.
