Talked to a guy that knows his stuff, he said i can save 250$ if i pull the trans myself, plus he told me the sound im hearing is a "cluster" and possibly, most likely a bad "bearing", also said he will do a bench job and let me watch him do the whole job
and he said it wont be to expensive, considering thats all it might need, i have faith in this guy. thnx for the help guys, and hope you other guys sharing my frustration get things squared away.------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. If it is the cluster, you are looking at $250 for a new one, and you should replace the imput shaft since it rides on top of the cluster another $100, and the master rebuild kit runs around $150. That is what went out on mine, except my imput shaft only had 3 teeth left and the bottom cluster gear that meshed with it didn't even look like a gear anymore..I'll see if I cna take some pic's and post them.

What ecxactly does that master rebuild kit contain? bearings? i told the guy i only wanted necesary parts, cuz im on a budget
he did mention the price for the cluster, but i think i can get a good rebuild out of it for under 400 i hope. since im pulling it myself i should go ahead and try rebuilding it....naw:8 maybe i better not. |

The master rebuild kits do come with all the bearings, snycros, sliders, pads for the forks, and all the other little parts for the rebuild.
