The AOD had a bushing in the rear of the tail housing that the driveshaft yoke runs on.

They make a tool that goes in from the seal side and grabs it so you can pull it out that way. It doesn't always work.

The other way is to remove the tail housing and remove and replace the bushing with it on the bench.

Well lets see....First pull the driveshaft.
2. Pull the speedo cable
3. Jack transmission up and remove the transmission mount
4. You may want to remove the crossmember, if you want for access.
5. Unbolt the tailshaft housing, 6 bolts if I remember.
6. Remove tailhousing.
7. Remove rear seal and bushing, replace seal and bushing
8. Replace gasket for tailhousing.
9. Install everything is reverse order.

P.S. You'll lose a little ATF.

Good luck, Have fun !!!!!

you don't need any special tools to remove the tailshaft housing. and if the bearing in there is still together, it's probably good, the seal is probably bad, but if your leaking, take a close look at the yoke, it is probably grooved. it will save you some time and anger , and a t5 DS yoke will work on on an aod, it will not work the other way around. (aod yoke is longer)
