Default choke troubles and heater not working help

I have 66 coupe and i have been having a few troubles with starting my car in the mornings. It seems that the chooke plate doesnt want to close when it is cold. I have tried many times to adjust the choke spring but it only helps for the first time and then it goes back to staying open. Could the spring be on backwards.
Also I have just replaced everything to so with the heating system and it was all working so well until my heater switch started to act funny by not turning on unless i jiggled it a bit. Then that stopped working and I cant get the blower motor to turn on with the switch. I have tried testing everything and there is power to all connections and the motor works if I bypass it with a direct ground under the hood. I have tried to take apart the switch and cleaned it all up put it all together and then it started to work again. Three days later it quit again. Now I am lost as to what to do. I am pretty sure it is a ground wire problem but I am not sure where it would be coming from. I have been having the same problem with the cluster lights and shifter bulb light. They stopped working before this but I know the bulbs are good and so are the fuses. I have a shop manual but it doesnèt have very good wiring diagrams. So if someone might have some tips please let me know. Thanks

teresa,

Do you depress the accelerator all the way to the floor before starting? This allows the choke plate to close completely for starting.

Here is a link for 1966 wiring diagrams:

Good luck,
Lou

Hmmm... that is a good question. I think I do but I will make sure to remember next time I start my car.
