![]() I have an AOD in my '88 LX. Does that transmission use vacuum lines for shifting (or any reason for that matter.) I believe that the newer AOD-E would not. But what about the AOD? I'm having some problems with the trans not shifting into OD and I'm checking all the minor things prior to spending money at the dealer.

![]() Correct. No vacuum, just a Throttle Valve (TV) cable.
*IMPORTANT* This needs to be adjusted properly or severe tranny damage WILL result. Trust me, I know. ![]() Before sinking money into your AOD, check out Baumann Engineering. There you'll learn more about the AOD than you ever thought possible. I've done most of the mods they've suggested there, and mine has survived 4 months of nightly street racing. Well, I also did some customizations, but I can attribute most of its durability to proper TV pressure and a tranny oil cooler. Hope this helps. ![]() ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch |
