![]() Hey everyone, I'm now interested in looking for a '94-'95 5.0 'stang to buy. These are the years for the slow version of the Cobra. Are these 5.0L Cobra's DOHC, or are they the same engine as the 5.0 GT's, with the extra 25hp or so coming from free-flowing heads and intake? I would appreciate it if someone can tell me the differences between the GT and Cobra from these years, engine (& internals), suspension, exhaust, anything else important. In my Summit catalog, when it lists the applications, it just says "94-95 Mustang 5.0L" for items including the Vortech s/c, I just wanna verify through you guys that this will fit both the GT and Cobra. Which is a better platform to mod on? Will they both respond equally to mods, or one better than the other? Thanks a lot for your help. I am going to look at a black on black '94 Cobra today.

![]() 94-95 GT and Cobras were the last of the pushrod 5.0s for the mustang. Though the Cobra is not significantly faster than the GT as it is in 96-98 and beyond, the 5.0 is still a 5.0. I think you can get just about any application for a GT 5.0 to work on a Cobra 5.0 unless specifically specified.

![]() the 93-95 cobra motors have iron GT40 heads (not gt40p's), and they had the cobra intake manifold (not suprising is it?)
the cam i believe is actually LESS agressive than the stock GT cam, and the computers in the cobras and GT's are crap, they pull a bunch of timing between shifts among other things they are not a DOHC 5.0, the DOHC was introduced in the 96 cobra with the 4.6L as for suspension, im not sure but i believe the cobras have better brakes i dont see any reason why a 94/5 cobra cant use the vortech that says it fits on the GT because its the same block hope this helps a little ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, full exhaust,65mm TB, Nitto DR's, new best 1/4--> 13.42@106.18 (1.89 short time) |
