WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IFYOU PUT AN UPDATED
MOTOR AND TRANS IN A EARLIER MODEL CAR.WHAT IS THE CAR CONSIDERD????.INTERIOR,GAUGES AND SO ON.THE ONLYTHING STOCK IS THE SHELL OFTHE CAR.I DON'T THINK MY COBRA IS A LOST PONY IF I UP DATED IT AND I CAN RUN AND KEEP UP WITH THE BIG DOGS.WHAT DO YOU THINK????

Even if you take a 65 mustang and put a 99 mustang interior, engine and whole drive train in it it's still a 65..

Purists and car show judges won't appreciate it, but of course your Mustang will remain a '78, tecnically, at least. I once owned a '71 Camaro that I ended up replacing about 85% of the sheet metal and almost all the mechanical parts on it, but it still looked like a '71 Camaro and I sold it as a '71 Camaro.

Fortunately, I came to my senses and wisely used the money from that sale as a down payment on a 1990 Mustang, which I still own, so the story had a happy ending.

I had a 78 mustang, they are good for restomods because they have not developed a high resale value. I had fun with mine( put a 69 302 and cobraII drive train, 3000stall.)
but always knew I would take a loss!
My old car is a 66 convertible made into aGT350 replica, I call it a replica, maybe you should call yours a modified cobraII>

P.S. the other day I had a guy tell me I ruined my 66 putting a roll bar in it, He is rather unknowledgeable. so I told him It was all factory. He then went on to say they only made convertibles for two years, Bla Bla! So I told him that my car was one of six made, He He!!
And that is why he has never seen one like it before, or would again! I'm a real shit head, Ha Ha!!
