![]() I own a '65 Mustang convertible. I purchased a 351W to replace my 289.
I'm having some problems with the installation and I was wondering if anyone direct me to the right people to ask or if anyone would know. I'm having problems with the harmonic balancer, the pulleys, and the front cover. I'm using the front cover off of my 289 because I had to purchase a different oil pan that would fit over the frame support that runs underneath the engine. My front cover has the dipstick for the oil in it where the original front cover that came on the engine did not. I'm also trying to keep the original belt setup as opposed to the serpentine belt setup that came with the 351. The harmonic balancer isn't lining up right with the alternator pulley and I can't tighten the balancer in all the way to the crank because it starts to hit the front cover. What should I do? Do you know anyone that has installed a 351W into a 65 Mustang? Any help would be great! Thanks. ------------------ |
