![]() I am coming home from my buddy's work when I see a bike run up on me fairly quick. Traffic in front is slow and I move over with blinker and proceed to be cut off by 1 driver. No more than 2 seconds later another idiot cuts me off. I am getting a little ticked and the bike is following me at this time. I swoop over 3 lanes and keep it in 5th at half throttle. I see the bike try the pass and I let him. The bike gets ahead and we clear traffic he pulls over to the slow lane and I bring it up to even with him. We are going about 70MPH and I drop it into 4th and stand on it! He hits it the same time and he pulls me by only 1 BIKE LENGTH by the time we hit around 130MPH. I get beside him again at 60MPH and drop it to third and he looks over and I give him the go! We are off, I pull about 1 BIKE LENGTH off the bat and he catches and we stay even until about 130 MPH. He proceeds to get off and I give him the wave and he waves back.
The guy was madd cool and I really didn't expect to have a chance. I was able to see on the side of his bike the words "Katana", it looked to be an early 90's. Any idea what model?? ------------------ C ME FLY 88 Notch MAC headers, H-pipe, and Chrome 2.5" pipes, pullies, K&N filter, BM shifter, 17" ROH ZR6, Dropped 1.5". |

![]() I had similar results w/a Ducati, except I had him by 2 car-bike lengths until we hit 170 (which is my top speed)
![]() Something tells me that this guy just got his bike and is still not comfortable riding it....no offense, but sport bikes wouldn't have too much trouble w/ you unless you had a 10-11 second Stang. ------------------ '90 LX 5.0; 12K original miles (no sh*&); 3.55 gears; pulleys;Edelbrock Performer Heads; BBK shorties; MSD 6AL box w/ blaster 2 coil; Motorsport E303 cam; Pro-M 75mm MAF; BBK 70mm TB; Eibach spring kit; Southside welded subs; K&N cone filter charger; Hurst shifter; fiberglass turbo hood; A/C-less; rear seat-less; cat-less; 2 chamber Flos; Corbeau racing seats (fronts); 30# injectors; JMS Chip; 190 lb fp; TFS track heat Intake (12.299 @ 113) |

![]() Those old 600 Kan-a-tuna's are pathetically slow by todays sportbike standards. I beaten one on the freeway before too on all motor.
I have seen a lot of them at the track and stock the go in the mid-high 12's around 108-110 mph. I used to beat them at the bike races with my FZR 600 which trapped 111-112 stock. I remember thinking that was lightning fast!!! |

![]() Yeah, I didn't think he would have much trouble either. I saw him downshift and get real low and hammer it! Maybe the bike was fucked up? I raced a newer sport bike about 2 months ago and got annihilated by about 40 car lengths from 70MPH-140MPH.
Hey maybe he pulled a ricer and put on a Katana Type-R badge!LOL ![]() ------------------ C ME FLY 88 Notch MAC headers, H-pipe, and Chrome 2.5" pipes, pullies, K&N filter, BM shifter, 17" ROH ZR6, Dropped 1.5". |

![]() I have test drove a 97 750 katana and it was gd awful slow. My first bike a 97 FZR600 would hae killed it, actually I raced a guy with it a smoked him. If you pulled up to a newer R6 or R1, you would get pulled on hardcore. Especialy a busa which I have seen run the 1/4 all stock a 9.6 and almost 150mph so.... just my 2 cents.

![]() The acceleration of a bike really slows down at higher speeds, especially an older turd like a 600 Katana.
My 90 FZR600 was modded to the hilt and ran low 11s at a little over 120, but I got beat by a few cars on the freeway before from about a 60mph roll that I know ran a much slower 1/4 mile. Newer bikes are a different story... my souped up FZR would get dusted by any respectable new stock 600cc superbike. |

![]() My R1 is really fast even at 100+ it pulled awesome. I mean the end of 2nd gear is around 100mph so....It still pulls awesome at 100+, I don't think there is a car around here that could touch it on the highway up to top speed. And I've rode a busa and it pulls just as hard as my 1st, 2nd , and 3rd does in every gear. My R1 dynoed at 139RWHP, it weighs just 380lbs. Just to give you something to think about.

![]() The older 600's are about even from a hiway roll with a high 13 street car.
I've run dead even with the CBR's and my friends FZR, although once we hit about 100mph I was creeping. |

![]() I did a 3 way once with my friends 600GSX and a 600 Yamaha (YZR?). They spotted me a car and I walked away from the yamaha but the GSX got beside me by 100 km/h(60mph)and we were even to 180km/h (110mph).
I never miss a chance to play with the bikes, if you catch them off guard, they get pretty embarassed. My favorite is to take a deliberate jump and see how long it takes for them to run me down, sometimes the slow ones never do catch up though ![]() ------------------ GT-40 heads (ported, polished, + milled), B303 cam, 1.7rr's, JE pistons, Offy intake, Carter AFB 625cfm carb, Flowtech 1 5/8" shortys, Flowtech X-pipe, MAC Flowpath exhaust, MAC pulleys, 373's, subframes, Eibachs+Tokicos, B&M ripper, FMS Clutch, Zoom Quadrant+cable, 17" CSA Ultra rims, 235/45ZR17 Yokohama AVS S4's, MSD 6A ignition+coil, FMS 9mm wires, Carbed, Naturally Aspirated, and Nasty! |

![]() I have a 99 Katana and last summer I ran cages into the ground. Most stangs and camaros don't bother running me I get the little imports with the $100.00 SS muffler trying to race all the time.. This year my bike is running like crap (didn't prep it right for the winter). What I am trying to say is, bikes aren't like cars. They aren't very forgiving.. If he was missing just a bit or he's jets where clogged you might be able to run him 60 to 130 on the highway with a 13 stang but if his bike was 100% even a older Kat would pull on you.. 60 to 70ph on a 450lb bike.. Do the math hp to weight..
