Default Cooling fan HELP!!!!!

Ok here's the problem, I have a 1992 mustang 2.3.
The fan doesn't turn on when it gets hot i ran a jumper wire from the battery to the fan motor and it worked so i'm assuming thats not it. I read in a hynes manual that it should kick on when the A/C is ran, but i couldn't get the A/C to work either, i put a test light on both conecters the fan and the A/C but no power.
Is there a comon thing that goes wrong that would cause this problem, i'm more concered with the cooling fan then the A/C but i'm guessing that they may be connected somewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to check you cooling temp senser because if thats not working then your fan won't turn on at all. I know i have a 1985 ford mustang with a 2.3 L engine and i have the same proplem with it

If the temp sensor goes bad would it still allow my temp gauge to show the right temp?

It boggles my mind how so many people have had this same problem yet no one knows how to fix it correctly, i refuse to wire it directly.
Every forum i find i post this question in, don't get me wrong i'm greatful for anyone who replys, i just can't believe that more people don't know how to fix it.
Does anyone know where the relays are located?
Is there a Tech out there who has a better manaul then my piece of crap haynes which by the way doesn't even list the cooling fan in the trouble shooting for over heating.
It's a 1992 mustang 2.3 L , Power steering, brakes, windows, cruise control, automatic trans and the almighty dual coils.

do you have a/c????? If you have a\c, do you have the belt on it... if you have a/c and you dont have a belt on it, then your fan won't run at all. I have the same problem with mine and i found out that i have a small leak in the radiator and i need a belt on my a/c compressor in order for my fan to run.....

Do i have a/c yes, is there a belt yes. Good question though, i had to run outside and look for that one.....lol
What i don't know is if it is charged but i will by tonight.
What i don't know is if the temp gauge is working does that mean that the temp sending unit is ok?

I'm sorry if i have sounded like an A@&hole in any of my posts thats not my nature, but this problem is getting the best of me.
Today i went to autozone (that could of been my first mistake)
I talked to the guy behind the counter he looked at my car, we go back inside and he insists it's a 8 cylinder since it has 8 plugs wires AHHHHH!!!!! well after i convinced him he was wrong (not an easy task) he asked his supervisor and he says it's the cooling fan switch, if there is anyone on this earth that can tell me where it is located on my car please please please let me know.
Remember it's a 2.3L it's the one with 2 coils and 8 spark plugs.i'm beginning to think it was the only one ever produced....lol
