well...when i got my new top i asked the guy if he could use my old window and he said no because there is some sort of connection (im guessing the defrost) that cant be switched. he told me if i wanted to do just a back window, that i would have to do the entire top. now i dont know if that is crap but id check it out

I'm not going to be of any use, but it looks like my window can ZIPPER out... cause it's a seperate piece.. thouhg that's just from the top of the glass, the bottom attaches to the body where the rest of the top does... it seems that I could unzip the top of the glass and then just let it drop down, and it'd be like opening the rear window of a station wagon or something.. i cant see why you would want to do that.. but anyway...
My rear doesnt even have defrost , I dunno if it was an option or somehting.. -as |

conv. rear window
i have a 92 5.0 convertible, and Ford was doing some maintanance on it and somehow broke my back glass window. The original top on the mustang was not zipper down type, it was permanent sew in. Well, Ford said they would have to install a new top. when all was said and done, it was a different style top with a zipper down back window. I have seen convertible back window glass and material in magazines, but i am not sure if they are zipper in or not... may wanna check into it. Just thought i would write my experience . My window broke a second time when putting it down due to the window not having enough clearance and the corner of the glass dug into the back seatbelt cover and shattered it. So, may wanna make sure who ever installs your new glass does it right and make sure you put it down a couple times to make sure there is enough clearance.
