Howdy!
After 2 years of wanting a stang I finally got a 97 Mustang GT. Its 5-spd, loaded, and stock (for now).
I do have 2 questions. 1) Does someone have the stats on my car? like horsepower, torque, 60 ft, quater mile etc. (This prob should be posted on the modular part) 2) my friend said a stock 98 Eclipse GTS can beat a stock 97 Mustang GT, I know this is a mustang forum but does anyone know if its true, and either way what the stats are of the Eclipse GTS. I have a $50 bet that my car is faster . Im just happy and glad to be here and wanted to say hi, now that my waits finally over. Oh I live in Houston, Tx so if any of yall are in a mustang club around here, please send me an email. -Ace

If u have any doubt about the GTS, I believe that it was a GTS with a turbo that I beat in my stock bronco. (had to been a weak turbo or something?!?)

well the eclipse GST is a fwd turbo 4 banger.
your stats 0-60: 6.6 Transmission: Manual 1/4 Mile: 15.1 1/4 Speed: 92 the GST 0-60: 7.4 Transmission: Automatic 1/4 Mile: 15.5 1/4 Speed: 90 thats all i could find, i will try and find more on the GST eclipse. But i think you will be able to take him, its the GS-X you have to worry about, they can be very fast.

have to be carfull betting with eclips owners
..........with both cars bone stock you should be able to beat him ......but since there so close ,the driving will make alot of difference .......since you just got your car your probly going to lose your money if you race him right away.......try to put off racing him till you get used to the car (i've seen 1/4 mile times drop like 4-5 tenths as the owner got used to the car --took me a little bit till i could get my car down to it's potential ) also be weary about the definition of stock ......most eclipes aren't bone stock .......with a simple boost controller you can put an eclipes right next to a stock mustang ....with a few other toys you can put a stock mustang in the rear view........so before you race him make sure it's -bone- stock good luck

Thanks for the greetings. The stats helped, but does anyone know the torque or horsepower for a stock 5-spd 97 GT?
Ill post some pix when I take some good ones. -Ace

Welcome to Mustang Works there Ace. How much money do you plan on putting into your car??
As some one mentioned before...Start saving up for the 99+ Heads, and intake. Then get some 4:10's and start looking into suspension parts and you wont have to worry about Turbo Eclipse's (Well not stock ones...There's a nasty one around Fayetteville) |

Welcome to MW
I'm also a part of a local Mustang club www.westsidemustangs.com We go racing at Loan Star Raceway (1/8 mile) once a month to compete against other car clubs thoughout Houston. We are number ONE in points lead Check us out. BTW: If you don't live on the westside, that doesn't mean you can't join. That's where all of our meetings and events are planned around, so it helps out. |
