Raced My Friend's Honda VFR (800) today (Kinda weak, but fun).
My friend and I finally got to take the '79 and the bike out to the country to engage in a little speed contest. We lined up on a nice stretch of road and he said that whenever I decided to go just go and he would go... (no 1...2...3... go or anything). I didn't bother with a burnout and just launched at about 12-1400 rpm. I can say that on my end it was good launch, but with a little spinning through 1rst gear. Would've been better hif I had launched a little higher (soon will be replacing the stock tq converter with a ~2800 converter-- and some AFR heads). Of course, I got a bit of an advantage from a dead stop cause I don't have to worry about the front end of my car coming up and the car coming out from under me .
He hit it a little too hard coming into 2nd or 3rd gear and had to let off a little b/c his front end started coming up ( I think that's what he told me), but nonetheless, I got him all the way till 70 mph. . At which point he flew pass me like an F-14. Even if he didn't mess up, I still think I can beat him to 60 mph. Next time I'll warm up the tires so I can get some better traction off the line.

This reminds me of a race with a bike I had about 2 years ago, it was a newer 600 Yammi, same thing, I could take him to about 60, at that time I think he was doing about 80 as he passed me, we did this about 4 times, kinda fun.
