Default 347 daily driver project......

im looking at building a 347 stoker for my 87 mustang GT. I would like to be able to drive it regular on the street and run off pump gas. I have another source of primary transportation so this isnt like the only way i have to get around. Any suggestions on which direction i should take here? How much and i looking at in machine work on the block alone? i have what i feel to be a good kit priced for $979.00

SCAT 9000 Series Premium Cast Crankshaft - 3.400" Stroke

Go with h-beam rods instead of I-beams. Use JE forged pistons. You could run 10.5:1 compression on 93 pump gas. Those rings will work well. Are you running efi? Is this car converted to mass air yet? If not I would suggest doing it. What about heads, cam, intake, injectors, etc?

yes im running EFI its already been converted to MAF though it was done before i got the car and im questionable if it was done correctly. The car isnt running currently so ill just have to see when i get it back running... heads are undecided but im looking at a set of AFR 185cc heads. cam intake injectors are all undecided right now im basically a noob when it comes to muscle cars i spent way to much time looking at imports and messing with imports now i found what i truely like doing. I was hoping to find someone with a proven 347 setup and basically just copy that for the most part.....

Go with trick flow twisted wedge heads. Get trick flow forged pistons to match the heads. Arias makes the pistons for trick flow and you can get them at 10:1 c/r for the 3.4 stroke. The intake i would use would be trick flow track heat or edelbrock performer rpm or victor 5.0. Use 30lb injectors with 77mm pro-m maf. I would also suggest looking into an oil pump, pan, and pickup. I am currently using the moroso pan and pickup with a high volume melling pump. Go with 1.6 ratio rockers because they are easier on valvetrain components and go with thrick flow stage III cam.

The only reason I suggest to use all the trick flow stuff is because the are made to work with each other. The pistons are custom made to match the heads and have the reliefs for the big vavles. I am running a 306 with tfs heads, pistons, and stage II cam. I have never had the car on a dyno, but by using the hp calulators it makes about 380hp. I have ran many different cams and the tfs cam made the most power. I have ran a fms f&x 303 cam and a custom ground one with alot of lift but the tfs mafe the most power because the numbers for the cam are made to match the heads. I havent use a tfs intake but they seem to be the hot ticket for a street/strip motor. I am using an edelbrock performer rpm intake right now.

Trick Flow makes a nice product. I'm running TFS TW heads and their Track Heat intake.

As for pistons, you can go with the TFS pistons or Probe pistons - either will work nicely. They have a set in their SRS (Sportsman Race Series) that are really nice and come with the special valve relief needed for running a big cam and TW heads. I think they cost around $425 for the set.

As far as rods go, a nice set of I-beams would suffice for a mild street motor. H-beams if you want more security or plan on turning up the power later.

This seems to be what everyone tells me except for bottle baby not to mention i have a friend that gets AFR heads Wholesale...
Not trying to knock anyone but it seems dollar for dollar AFR's got my business over trick flow...
