flywheel & damper question
Is there a way to tell a 28oz damper & flywheel from a 50oz one. I have a 89LX that came with a 351W but I don't know what's on it, & I just bought a new 351W longblock & I want to make sure I put on the right parts.

Re: flywheel & damper question
Yep! There is a surefire way to tell for sure. Take the rotating assy to a machine shop.
ALL 351w were 28.8oz imbalance, and MOST of the "stroker" parts are as well. The only reason Ford switched to the 50 oz imbalance was that it's cheaper to manufacture. How? I have no idea. But rest assured, 28.8oz is "better", so that's why most of the strokers come that way. You could take a chance, and have a 98% chance that you're prolly be right, that everything is 28.8oz. But is it worth it? To me, it's not. That's definitely one of those "I HAVE to know" things. Take it to a machine shop that knows Fords, and you'll be good to go.

Re: flywheel & damper question
take your flywheel to a tire shop, have them strap it on the tire balancer and see what weight it calls for, lol
I'm with Jester, it's most likely a 28oz but I'd definately spend the $10 at the machineshop for them to check it.
