I need help choosing what cfm carb i will need.

306 engine
E-303 cam
gt-40 heads

It was a EFI setup but went to carb. It was a very strong engine with EFI but i have changed to a victor jr. intake and not realy sure on the cfm's i'll need to get the most from the engine. May put a small shot of nos later.

Most will tell you a 600-650 will be just fine and I would agree with that.

ENGINE MILD HOT WILD
300......N/A..600...650
350......600..650...750
400......650..750...800
450......750..800...850
500......750..850...950
550......850..950...1000

stock vehicle is mild
hotrod is hot

If you're a math dork, the formula is CIxRPM/3456

Or, if you're just lazy, hit this link and follow the directions (up at the top, enter "306":

And now the headaches start..... LOL

Good choice, but not the one I would have made. BUT, either way, plan on LOTS of tuning to get that sucker dialed in. I'm not a big fan of "chokes", but I don't leave the garage until I'm up past 140* either.

That's a good carb, and it'll treat you well. If you "listen" to it. It'll tell you what it wants.

Yeah your right about the tuning. I just hope everything go's smooth.I set everything on motor for a test fit and there is no room for breather will be looking for a hood now. I'll post picks of engine when it's finished.
