License plate resto
Does anyone here know of a place in the California central valley that restores license plates? I've got the original black plates on my '65 coupe that I'm interested in having done. They're not in bad shape, but they're not perfect either. Problem is, I don't know who does this or even if ANYone can legally do this.

Re: License plate resto
Perhaps you could bring it to the machine shop and have them hot tanked, then paint them yourself. Just my 2 cents.

Re: License plate resto
I'm not much of a painter, so I wouldn't really trust myself with that.

Re: License plate resto
So nobody has had this done? Does everyone really just do this themselves?

I just dont think people actually restore license plates. (well im sure somebody does, I just dont see it being worth it) Can you actually drive with the old ones on?

Re: License plate resto
Yeah, I can drive with them on, or at least the one in the back. I just thought it would be cool to have them in perfect condition.

Re: License plate resto
Yep, I have an old 63 Black and Yellow Cali plate (going to make it a 66) with a Marina del Mar bracket. It is is good but faded and need of a refresh. I want it as a display item with my coupe when she is done. I was going to get the yellow eye matched and have a crack at sanding it and then masking it up to paint. Should go well but will take a little bit of time.
