![]() There's nothing wrong with referring to nitrous as noss. There's nothing wrong with wearing pants that are 4 times too big, and having them settle around the knees, either. I just happen to think both are pretty silly. But what do I know, and who cares what I think? I also used to own a Datsun B-210 and 3 Pinto's, so I can't be all that bright. My first experience with nitrous was inhaling it in 1979. To this day I still swear the ground came up and hit me. By 1980 I had discovered racing, and the practical application of nitrous oxide. A gentleman by the name of Steve Presta had a Chevy Vega with a 6-71 427, and it happened to be on the juice as well. The only time in my adult life that I actually pissed in my pants was in that car. Steve explained nitrous to me. He took the mystery out of it. I was having trouble understanding how a non-flammable gas could create so much power. I used to think of it like it was nitroglycerine, that a tank could blow up like a bomb if dropped. Then Steve explained it real simple: Nitrous Oxide is the best way to add oxygen to the combustion chamber in a controlled manner. Straight Oxygen would grenade as soon as it met a spark, but when adding Nitrogen to the Oxygen, the burn rate was slowed down to the point where it was controllable. You youngsters probably never even heard water injection, but that used to be a poor mans nitrous. Same idea, but no where near the same results. It was at this point that I realized the real fuel that powered engines was Oxygen. The gasoline was just there to control the burn.
Sorry about that. Call it whatever you want to. Peace. Take care ~Chris ------------------ Retired Moderator MustangNet My site: JimPorterRacing RACECAR spelled backwards is RACECAR HEY !!! Are you ASE Certified ??? If you are, ask me about iATN. The best tool you'll ever have, and it's free !!! |

![]() Hehehe. Well then Marty, you might be familiar with this:
![]() Made by Edelbrock, for testing the Edelbrock Vara-Jection Water Injection Systems. Bet you thought you'd seen everything. ![]() Eddie-
It was used to test Edelbrocks water injection systems. They were used as a poor mans nitrous 20+ years ago. BTW, I love "interesting tidbits". ![]() If you say noss people know what you are talking about now, so nothing wrong with saying it. As for using it, I never will. What is the point?

![]() The "Noss" things bugs me, not because I think its Dorky, but because its usually signs of a poser, well at least in my area.
Kinda like when some one told me they used Newtons laws of Gravity to figure out matters pertaining to black holes. Newtons Laws, begin to get ugly when it comes to massive (as in mass, not BIG) objects like the sun, or Nuetron stars, let alone Black Holes. This kid was trying to impress people with his "Knowledge". I asked him could Newtons laws be used to predict conditions past the event horizon if they couldnt explain the orbit of Mercury, or Neptune. Anyway, as for the spoilers. Its a matter of taste, but when things get exessive is what most of us refer to as "Rice". Gawdy, Tacky, Overdone. Its when the Spoiler suits no function, or when the flow of the cars lines is marred by a mis matched spoiler. |

![]() I agree with alot of the people here in saying, "Around where I live if you call it {noss} you are a poser or a freaking moron".
And about hte age of kids just callin it noss or some other stupid acronym, I'm 22 and I think it simply sounds like some type of nasty venerial disease we all have but dont want to admit. There are so many comp. out there that makes Nitrous systems that we all get confused from time to time. I am favorable to the Nitrous Oxide System brand name just because they have been around for ever and I trust that. Wings: whats the point of putting a plane on your trunk lid if your car is front wheel drive? I agree fox body gt's would look dumb as hell with out a wing but some of these things are freakin riduculus (spelling). I think when I get my race car done I will just bolt a civic to my hatch and run it like that. I figure the hatch is 3 feet from the ground, add another 8 feet of civic and wing and you can get it up in the dead air. All kinds of down force up there. ------------------ '93 lx notch 4 banger (drive it to work currently), Using the 306, 8.8 posi, 4.10's, summit rear cover, elec. fan, cowl hood, wieand stealth intake, holley 650 d.p.carb., built c-4, e-303, full autometer guages, msd box, mallory unilite dist, and coil, roll cage, summit seat, subs, 15x10's in the back with slicks, skinnies up front, all in use for 1988 Hatch Drag Car. Hope to start running next year. Hoping for 7.20's after all is done with small motor. |
