![]() well the transmision shop said it's the trans. says the gears are sevearly worn down and slightly out of alignment. they also said that becouse it's slightly out of alignment they do not recomend rebuilding it. says it would be better to get A new trans. so that will be another post.

![]() Sounds like BS from that trans shop. Look for another one. What they are saying is not right. The clutches may be worn causing slippage, the bands may be shot causing reving between shifts, and a lot of other stuff may be wrong, but it isn't all due to "bad allignment" and "worn gears". Look for another shop.

![]() you were right. that shop was bs'ing. I took it to another shop and had them look at it and they said there was one clutch that was preaty worn down and also the tourgue converter clutch was ready to go out anytime. but they said everything was aligned right. they also said I was deffinitly loosing acceleration do to the trans but that it might not be all my problems.
they quoted me 1200 to reabuild it if I took the trans out. does any one know any sites that sell new auto transmisons. I know I could convert it to a manual for less then that if I bought I used trans. but then there's the question will it work properly. thanks guys ford kid |

![]() Seems like too much to me. First thing you need to decide is do you want an automatic or a standard. If you decide on a standard, get a 4 speed out of any donor car (unless you are converting to a new trans) and re-build it yourself. I did that to mine for under 500.00 and it works like a charm. The owner of toploaderheaven.com fixed me right up with everything I needed. He even has tips on buying a used trans on his site. It's worth checking out.
