Factory Air
I have a '67 with factory air and have just changed everything - dryer, compressor, expansion valve, etc - out to switch to 134. I bought the compressor (the big cast iron one) from Auto Zone and they assured me that it is compatible with 134. Well, it cools OK but the compressor makes a lot of noise which it did not do when I was using R12 - I have tried two compressors, same noise. Any ideas? I can't exist in this Texas heat without air but I could do without the noise. Thanks, E.

Re: Factory Air
You added oil to the compressor, right??
You added the correct oil?? The 134 pushes the high side pressure way up, past the R12 numbers. Very hard on the system. Lastly, you know that you should only recharge w/134 about 85% of R12.
