Hii you guys im Julian the guy from mexico, ill be thinking to change my hyd. roller cam. I got 9:5 to 1 compresion, roush 180 cylinder heads ported 250 cfm intake at 550 lift and 190 cfm exhaust at 550 lift, single plane intake, msd ignition distribuitor, 6AL, 1 5/8 headers, 750 holley carb., roller rockers 1.6 ratio, and the cam that already have is a comp extreme energy with 224 in 232 ex duration at @.050, 555- 565 lift, 112 lobe center, advertised duration 274 in 282 ex.(part number 35-518-8)
And I want to change for other extreme energy this 232 in 240 ex duration at @.050, 565-574 lift, 112 lobe center, advertised duration 282 in 290 ex. (part number 35-522-8). I use the car every day, ET 12.80 and 1.67 in the 60 fts. I feel that the car need more duration at @.050. What you guys think do you like that cam I accept other suggestions. Thanks. |

I looked at your past messages to see all that you have, and noticed that you have a 306 ci engine with a cam of 224 &232 duration @.50. Thats pretty healthy for a 306! The flow #'s on your heads have great flow numbers for a street car. The only thing I see that concerns me is the size of your carb! Its huge for a 306 that shifts'only at 5500-6000 RPMS. If you can borrow a 600-650 doulble pumper carb (4150 style) you could pick up alot!! I would not feel comfortable putting in a bigger cam. My first combo had a lot less cam, head and intake and went mid twelves with a 1.72 60 foot at 200 above sea level. You might be at the point where you have to much of something. Plus another great tool to have would be a "EGT". Help toon in you beast! With the "EGT" you will know if your running lean or rich at the race track. Good luck |

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the cam you have is also at the point where 9.5 to 1 comp. would be the lowest I would want, and going bigger will only hurt you more.

Hi 420nitro, thanks for the advised, but wath is a EGT, is the computer that you plug to the oxygen sensor. And im gone a tried with the 650 and i just put a weiand scoop the aluminium one, cause i dont have any air flow to the carb and maybe with the scoop im gone a run like 12.65 that be my guess and then maybe think in the cam if i needed, and other think im out of trany, its realy hard get a t5 here in mexico with this is my 3rd trany that i blow.
