Post I finally own a drag car.

Ok so it's not a drag car yet but I have the car, motor, rearend and some other misc parts to start putting together. I started taking the interior out last night, I hope to finish that tonight. I am running a 306, ported factory heads, 8.8 with posi and 4.10 gears. Can't decide on tranny yet. I have a good t-5 but I dont want to use it. Im thinking c-4. Light and can be built strong enough for the small block.

Can I run solid mounts and a rubber tranny mount with slicks? I dont mind the vibration. I want to run 10 wheels and slicks on it but what offset do I need? What is the tallest tire I can run? 28's?

Cool

Congratulations man, I got one to put together also but have much work to do. It's going to be my first real drag car also. 67 fastback. I'm really excited and plan to start soon. Keep in touch and let us know what happens, Good luck. Also, I've heard that if you use solid mounts, you should always use both or none at all. Wish I could tell you for sure but I'm confident your in the right place to find out. Once again good luck and keep us posted.

Hey man about the mounts, I have heard both ways that if you use solid motor mounts you should use a good (not solid ) tranny mount. And I have also heard they should all be solid. What combo are you using? How are you going to set up the rear end since yours is a leaf car? I want to eventually upgrade to a ladder bar set up with like 14 inchers in the back but not for a while. You going to NMRA in Bowling Green this month? It's gonna be sweet.

Hope to start running next year. Hoping for 7.20's after all is done with small motor.

I probably won't have this car ready until next spring. See, I don't have much money and this is going to be a slow process for me. Bowling Green , are you kidding, I live here in South Georgia. I did go to the NMRA event here close by in Reynolds, Ga. Really haven't got started on the car yet but more than likely it will be a 428 CJ with a C6 tranny. Wish I could say that I would be ready for the Reynolds race next year but really unsure. Anyways, more than likely this will be a bracket car. Here in Albany, Ga, there is an 1/8 mile track that I'll be shooting for as far as racing it goes . Just don't quite have the funds to travel all over and race. Anyways Good luck . It'll be a slow process but I'll keep you all informed. Do the same K.

OK update: I finished pulling the interior out tonight. I am leaving the dash but everything else is out. This car is so nasty, on the inside. I am revolted to even think thats someone actually drove this car in this condition. But $150 bucks and a clean title I dont guess I can complain.I am gonna try to get some pics up on my site and get it going again.

It will be next season before it is even running also. I wasnt talking about racing at Bowling Green just going to watch. Any ways post more updates later.

If you do a search for solid motor mounts you will aome across a good thread on this topic. I explained some stuff there about them. If you can't find it then I'll repeat it again. Congrats on the car and have fun!
