Another problem (heater core)FUN FUN FUN
I have not done one of these in about eight years and it was on a 85GT. Do I still have to take the dash out(almost). I think I remember hearing they changed the design a little in the early 90's models? Or maybe I'm wishing they changed the design. Is this going to be as bad as I remember? Any tips? Thanks for all the help.

I have pulled my 88 5.0 Topless LX. It is a pretty hard job. If I can give any suggestions it would be to lable the connectors that are connected. The wiring harness is made for many extras. If you get frustrated. Go drink a beer. Relax and go after it again. Wiring harnesses are very expensive. JC Whitney 5.0 wiring harness is $500. Thank God you don't have fuel injection. Heater cores are a pain in the a**. Good Luck may the Force be with you.

If you don't have a/c, it's a snap, if you do, patience works best!

I actually got mine out without taking my dash out.
Unbolt the main dash support on the passenger side obviously and take out the glove box, then the fan blower assembly, you should be able to lower the whole devoce low enough to unsnap the top of the cover that holds the core in, of course you have to take out all of the bolts and hoses at the firewall under the hood too. Good Luck, I got a replacement for $40 brand new. ------------------ 88LX NOTCH 5.0, TFS Twisted Wedge Aluminum heads, 2.02 1.60 valves, BBK shorties unequal 1 5/8, off road H-pipe, Flowmasters, Drag lites, custom grind cam, solid motormounts, Aluminum Driveshaft, BBK springs, lakewood 90/10 50/50 shocks, BBK upper and lower control arms, 4.10 gears, centerforce DF clutch, adjustable BBK clutch cable with aluminum quadrant, Billet Steel flywheel, 70mm Acufab Throttle Body,MAC cold fender mount induction, K&N, 3 core radiator, flex-lite-fan, custom hardened push- |
