I put 355s on mine and with the t-5 a 23 tooth speedo gear gets you in the ballpark
as far as mph correction, provided you are using stock tire height. Increasing tire height slightly with the 23 tooth shoudl put about spot on. Once I added the blower, I was glad I did not go any higher numerically, but for NA 3.73 are an option you may want to consider. Many out there love them and I bet you will get some replies that recommend the 4.10s, though your highway RPM will suffer. Consider going with the motorsport gears as they set up very nicely, are unlikely to whine, and offer good value and durability on a street car.

if he uses different gears his speedo will probably get screwed up (guy i know has 3.55's, 5-speed & his is really off)
the 3.73's will probably improve 1/4 mile by 3-4 tenth's depennding on driving style (limited to around 130mph with stock size rubber).
3.55's are perfect for street & daily driving (runs around 140mph, police verified 137mph when they handed the guy i know his ticket. OUCH!).
4.10's should be used with taller tire (dont know top speed, probably around 110-120mph with stock sized tire)
I would go for the 3.55's
Hope this helps

Put me down fo 3.73's...I had them put in even before I did the performance rebuild on my motor (i.e. the motor was stock other than some bolt ons) and DAMN did they make a difference. I love them, and wouldn't give them up for anything. When I picked my car up from the shop, the guy said, "Man, just try and keep that damn thing between the ditches." hehehe...he took it for a test drive to make sure everything was all good and nailed it...and got all squirrely (sp) so, anyways, I would strongly recommend the 3.73's. I have a buddy who has almost the same motor as me (nicks 5.0) and he has 3.55's....then he drove my car, and fell in love with the 3.73's....just somethin' to thinka bout. also, rpm's going down the interstate are going to be a negligable difference, like 500 or so. i run about 3,000k @ 80mph. It also makes for EASY passing of any cars on the road!!

I like my 3.73's. I also like 4.10's. I will keep my car N/A, so if I could do it again, I would put in 4.10's (probably eventually will). I wouldn't go less than a 3.73, in my opinion.

Remember, you do have overdrive so unless you are driving 85+ then rpm's won't be a problem. If you plan on other mods to the motor and want to keep it N/A then go with 4.10, but if you want a good street gear, 3.73 (possible power adder).

See if you can ride in or drive cars with other gears. Look into it carefully before you make an investment like that, so you know what you really want.

Hey you guys with 3.73's, do ya'll have your speedos correct? did you have to get another speedo gear?

oh and yea everyone has given good advice, the n/a motor is good with 4.10's or 3.73's, i've even rode in a 90lx with 347 stroker and 4.30 grs, it actually rode alright at about 65 mph, but good luck getting traction with street tires , i dont think im gonna regret my 3.73 swap.

Hey 90dpscoupe, I have 3.08's but my speedo goes up to 160mph. I know that my acurate mph is not correct. How can I fix this problem or can I get the speedo gears for it. Do I need to change that on the tranny?? Remember, My car originaly came with 140mph speedo but the police change that to 160mph.

Well these are your choices....
1. Go as fast as possible, screw the mpg
2. Go mediocre fast and save .005 mpg
4.10's you will turn around 3000 r's @ 75mph
anything else is just a slower ET. and a waste of money.
Sure, you will be faster w/ 3.55's instead of 2.73's but will still get your *** kicked.
My car goes 13.28 w/ 4.10's and long tubes.
12.50's on a 75 shot.......you make the choice, and that is on a (for all you who disagree) 26 inch tire.

I believe my speedo is fairly accurate. I think I put a 23 tooth (can't remember). Anyways they are color coded, I think mine is red and I bought it from D&D in Livonia, MI for $10.

89fhp, mine of course came with the 160 speedo too, and 3.08's i know mine was accurate, and still is after the 3.27 install, i had the shop put the right one in, which was "used" like the gears,

yours should be fine, i drove past one of the speed limit signs that post your speed, and it said 39mph, and sure enough the needle was just under 40mph on my speedo. thnx

90dpscoupe.... I usually run into a caddilac in the highway and they have those big digital displays. I drive next to them and there displays show 70mph and mine shows 80mph. This always happends when I run into a caddi. At that speed my RPM's are at 2100. What should the speed be with 3.08's gears.

I go for 3.73, but maybe thats just cuz what I have.

Anyways, I'm stick of seeing people post crap they dont know anything about. They wil definatly not lower your topspeed. You will most likely gain topspeed. You dont even have enough power to take advantage of all the gear you have now. I have 3.73's and I could pull 170mph theoretically at 6000rpm. So idiots need to stop talking about what they dont know. These cars do have overdrive.

My car came with 3.27's (the E option)with an AOD. I have the 3.73's in the trunk. I bought the 3.73's because I am saving up for a Kenne Bell. Will I notice a big difference when the gears are installed?
