Angry Speedo/Tach Wiring Problem

I was told my car was supposed to have a speedo with a trip meter. I found one at the wrecking yard and when I took the cluster out of the car, I was surprised to see the wire clip was 2-1/4" wide and the speedo w/trip housing holds the 1-1/2 wire clip. To make a long story short, I can't use the 2-1/4 housing unless I use 3/8" spacers when installing the new speedo to the cluster. I rather swap the 2-1/4" clip with a 1-1/4". Suggestions or where can I find a 1-1/4" clip?

P.S. Where can I find exterior 16oz spray paint cans?
