yeah, ditch the tailpipes... that'll give ya the best hot rod sound you're looking for, with the flows.
If you're lookin' to keep the tailpipes..... try removing the muff's and replacing them with tubing. Your 'stang'll sound like a pick 'em up truck but it'll be LOUD. I, personally, would go with the turndowns/dumps. |

I'm running 40 series flows on mine. Loudest stock sound i think you can actually get, other then straight headers. It's not super loud, but you can deffinitly hear it from a distance.

That pretty much what i'm running now the 40 series mufflers no tailpipes and no turndowns.
here is what i just discovered when the car was stock i bought the flows and had them put on with the stock set-up. then when i got the headers and x-pipe i took the car to my mechanic and had him install everything here is what he did. he installed the headers and 2.5 in x-pipe but instead of cutting the 2 1/4 inch stock pipe from the flang that comes from the old h-pipe he just bolted it to the new 2.5inch pipe. so now i have about a foot of 2 1/4 pipe mixed in with 2.5 inch pipe..what a ******* thats why its is not as loud as the others. thanks for the replys.

odd
Yeah, it's odd. My cars actually alot louder sounding then others...But most of the others have a more throaty sound. Anyways, i had enlargers for the mufflers. Right before the mufflers are expanders, from 2 1/4 to 2 1/2". Bought the mufflers for $20 with 500 miles on then from my friend Just something to get loud before the headers and full exhaust.

Longtubes and 3" Tails will also make it louder.
