So this is where we post our kills LOL....Have a vette vs mustang question.
All right I need some input here. Bear with me here. My cousin Jamie's boyfriend Tim's brother Bobby has a 99 automatic corvette and he clams to be running 13.1 Quarter mile times AND claims to be able to waste a brand new 03 cobra. No matter what you tell this guy he insists that his vette can whoop anything. I dont know the stats on vettes really can someone help me out???
I told Bobby that well play in a few months and then see whos slower LOL, he'll really S*** a brick because I am doing a turbo4 in my 89 coupe, Shorty! HAHAHA

A well driven cobra will waste him bad. It's 390hp vs. 350 or so. Also, his vette is an auto, and the cobra's are all sticks. 13.1 is fast, but it's not 03 cobra territory.

Well, for what's it's worth, I was out the other night and met a friend of a friend who has an '03 Cobra, and everyone out was talking about him wasting a ZO6 really bad, and a ZO6 is significantly faster than any stock automatic vette is gonna run.
If you were from around here, I'd set up a run for you to shut him up. Maybe you should aquaint yourself with someone in your area with an '03 Cobra and let him do it. If you haven't shown him the MM&FF with the drag test of the Cobra, you should do that, but he might not beleive it. Anyway, good luck, hope you can convince him somehow. Eric Mencl

I'm pretty dissappointed about the 03 cobra's, all I've seen are broken parts, and 03 cobras that don't move on there own anymore. Not every Cobra driver is going to run 12's at the track, remember that. Most are running 13's.

I told the guy about the MM&FF article and all he said was "bullshit" "thats not true" and "whatever". This guy owns a business and is getting a z06 in a few months. Hes extremely cocky and arrogant not to mention biased, and i want to shut him down even if its not me that does it.
A friend of mine is buying an extremely souped up turbo MR2 TRD that i think could possibly beat the 99 vette or at least run with it. But I'd rather a mustang be the one to shut VetteBoy down bigtime!!!

As for Madeup Mustangs & Fictitious Fords drag test....yeah the Pony car smack down really scared me with his what 104-106 trap speeds in the 03! slower trap speed then the SS had? MPH is the true best indicater of HP and yeah I know the 03 weighs more then the SS but that Trap speed combined with the trap time says the SS is gonna walk the 03 from a roll. But hey thats magazine racing and I prefer the real thing 1BAD89 - I have seen pretty much the same stuff you have 13.'s but with some mods they should be able to see 12's:

One thing that I thought was really funny, I have a MM&FF about 6 months old, and they tested a 02 SS, and got a 12.7@109 out of it on a hot/humid day, then they went on to say it could go 12.6 on street tires......... and then when the 03 Cobra vs. 02 SS it magicaly can only run a 13.2? F mag.'s.

They can't post a consistant time in that magazine if they had too. Like I said I prefer real racing to what a magazine says. If you see it, it happened if a magazine prints it (especially certain ones)all bets are off.

Face it cars arent consistant. Weathers not consistant.
Its not the magazines lying. How many 100-103mph trapping LS1's have I seen? Quite a few, atleast 8-10. How many 107-109mph LS1s have I seen? Even more. How many 111-112 mph stockish ls1's? None. Think about the stock near or in the 13's 5.0 mustangs, and all the stock 15second ones as well. I think the 03 is a proven low 13 high 12, 111-114mph car. Skyler

I second that Skyman. Lots of people seem to hope that Ford will screw up again with the Cobra's but I think they won't. People have also to understand that the more power there is in a car, the more difficult it is to drive it which leads to big variations in ET's.

It says in the mm&ff article there was a signifigant head wind during all the 1/4 mile runs and both cars were slower than previous tests.

Excellent points, Sky.
Alot of this reminds me of the post I put on here last fall about me racing the Big Bad SS Camaro at my local track. Heck, this guy was even modified with Lid, exhaust, gear, and I can't remember what else. I think he ran something like a 13.4 @ 105. I'd have to check the post/timeslip for sure, but the point is it was not an impressive run at all. Or, go back into the 'Unit 5302' archives...I think there was a post about all the "LS1 Humpers" and the times that people see out of those. Everything in the bag from mid 12's @ 110 to freaking mid 14's. Car's run different times at different tracks under many different conditions. Heck, I've gone 13.7's @ 103 one weekend and 13.2's @106 the next. Final point, the Cobra has power - lots of it even in stock form. Imagine a s/c pulley swap, exhaust upgrades and some sticky drag radials...you're looking at a damn quick Cobra. Give guys a chance to get used to these new beasts and I'll bet we see some very impressive timeslips out of them. Take it easy, E
