Help! more top end speed
Well I need some more top end speed. I was racing with a 2002 gt (standard)mustang and had him beat for about 30-40 seconds but his car slowly started creeping up on me and eventually slowly passed me up. I needed an extra push but my car couldnt do it. I smoked the guy on take off which was why I had him beat for a while. I drive a 95gt (aod). What can I do to help with a little more rpm range or an extra push.
mods:mac cold air intake, 70mm maf, pullies, cobra upper lower intake, shorty headers, o/f h-pipe, 1 chamber flows, 3:73 gears, shift kit Thanks guys! |

Im surprised you did that well, those 99+ stangs can be strong on top end, especially when you get a good driver, even i've had some close calls with the topend runs.
My suggestion, aluminum heads, or a bigger valve iron, with port work, and good valve springs, also the cobra intakes really respond to porting, but by the time you spent all that money on machine work, you could have already bought a supercharger.

Are you leaving the trans in Drive when you race or do you go through the gears? And if you go through the gears what RPM are you shifting at?

My theory is that if he had a 02 mustang he had a faster car than yours. the new mustangs are pretty powerful. you prolly beat him off the line b/c of your gears and he prolly wasn't good at taking off and shifting but when he got in the higher gears, technique didn't matter as much and the more powerfull car shone. Just my thought.
P.S. You woulden't want a 75MM Edelbrock TB would you?

N2o just a little 75hp shot.
30-40 seconds how fast were you going ? after 30-40 seconds you could be topped out . then gearing comes into play.
