New cam, tunning again
I have had a new cam from cam motion for too months, and I just put it in along with a elec. water pump. I had to put the timing at 35 degrees to make it come on right, now it pulls like crazy. It does not ping, is this going to be allright.

35 degrees?? somethings fishy if you can run that much timing.
what happens when you run 10-14 degrees?? I've heard of people running 20 and even 22 but 35 is hard to beleive.

No, initial timing is at 35 degrees. But it hauls and does not detonate.

There's no way man. That would mean total timing would be at like 60 degrees. You sure your balancer is on straight? Or is your timing mark screwed up?

Hey 88 it sounds like its time to replace the balancer. More than likely starting to slip.

Did you degree the cam when you installed it? Sounds like you may be off on your timing events and need the added timing to offset the effects of poor cylinder filling (cam advanced too much). Just a thought. Also, have you verified the computer's timing advance? Are you getting the initial +17 degrees at higher rpm & load?

Fellas, I am so sorry, the timing is a 22 degrees. What I done was put the timing controller on ten degrees, And set the balancer on 20 so I could advance to find the happy spot. Well it turns out that I acually put the balancer on 10 also. So while running the car it only ran good when I had the controller on 15, which I thought was acually 35. So sorry but I am all good now.
