Default Stroker Questions

My tired old 302 w/ 180,000 is in need of a rebuild. I changed the oil and found metal shavings on both of the magentic plugs. The rear main is also leaking. I'm considering going to a 347 stroker, but she is my daily driver. How does the Stroker kit affect driveability. Right now I'm getting around 17 MPG Avg city/highway.

While you're reading, check out my new club. We're working on getting chartered by MCA. Can you believe they elected me president? I'm still working on the website, but at least its up.

A 302 based stroker should be fine for a daily driver. Gas mileage may suffer some, but that really depends just how much you keep your foot in the gas.

With a nice mild H/C/I combo and solid tune (dyno tune), you can have yourself a very powerful street car that retains it manners and is a blast to drive - all while being very reliable.

Just my opinion (not looking to get into the whole 331 vs 347 debate), but for a daily driver that will likely see alot of mileage (based on your 180,000 already racked-up), I would stick with the 331 option.

Good luck,
E

I agree with Eric, although if you don't expect to get 100,000 miles from it again, I would do a 347. Lifespan shouldn't be that far off the mark from a 331 if it's properly built, and you'll never regret adding the extra cubes.
