Post holly carb?

i put my cousins holly 600 on my car in place of an edelbrock 600 and within 4 days it fouled out most of the plugs b/c they were jet black and the car wouldnt run at all. The jets are what came when he bought it. its leaned out a good ways. any advice?

Check to see if the power valve is blown. As far as jetting, what is engine and modifications.

Holley's are notorious for being tempremental and not runing right out of the box. If it is too rich it should be putting a ton of carbon deposits in the tailpipes. Clean them out then drive it around and see if you are getting carbon buildup. (after checking that power valve) Your jet sizes may have to be reduced and accelerator pump shot reduced. Why did he replace the edelbrock just out of curisoity. They are rather well know to run pretty good out of the box and give decent proformance.

Float setting needs to be set correctly. Easy to adjust and set. Great thing about Holleys is that they are ultimately tunable and parts are universally available.

Get a Holley book, find a store that stocks the parts and go from there.

That's my advice anyway.

Get rid of the holly. Get a 500CFM Edelbrock Perfomer. It runs right out of the box, makes awsome power and gets great mileage if you keep your foot out of it. Unless you are a holly expert, you can spend all summer screwing with it and NEVER get it right!
