Default shift kits...easy to install?

I was wondering if a person with average mechanical skills can install a manual valve body shift kit in a C-4 tranny?
They say it can be done with the tranny in the car. I was wondeing if the average person should attempt this or let a shop do it?

Easy as pie!

I installed a B&M unit in my AOD, total time about 2 hours. It was very easy, the instructions were good.

All you have to do it drop the pan, remove the valve body, and install new springs. Then you bolt the valve body back up, change the filter, install the pan.

I would highly suggest you buy a new filter and gasket. Also change the fluid, and install a drain plug while the pan is down.

Now that being said, I must tell you I kept the kit in my car for about 30 min. It was much too hard on the car, and it did not shift quite right for me. I am now going to install a new Valve body from Lentech. If you have the cash, save for the whole VB, if not, get a high quality kit.

Need more info, let me know!

Ian
