Question 93 5.0 LX A4LD transmission problems

I have a 93 5.0 LX with 96000 miles on it, and I love it till death do us part. I have a problem though that I need to fix. The automatic transmission will not engage OVERDRIVE. I can drive the car fine in DRIVE with only 3 gears. And let me tell you, great gas mileage. When I put the it into OD the transmission will not engage, it is like the car shifts into nuetral. It isn't slipping or grinding, it feels like my transmission is working fine. I think that something is not telling the transmission to shift into OD. It wouldn't be a problem if I lived down the street from AAMCO but I am stationed in Italy with the USAF. I would like to know if anyone has had similar problems or might know what a possible fix would be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
