Angry tires don't wanna spin after gears

I got 4.10s put in with new clutch friction discs, friction modifier, all new bearings, & I can't do doughnuts. I have an 89 coupe with a 5 speed. When I just bought the car with 2.73s I could do all the doghnuts I wanted, but eventually I couldn't do them anymore because of the clutch discs in the diff (so I thought). So after rebuilding the diff & putting in 4.10s I thought the problem would be solved. I still can't do doughnuts. They start to spin together but when I try to go into the fishtail the car doesn't fish-tail. What the hell is going on? I have myself on tape at the track doing a burn-out & only one tire is spinning. The owner of the shop who did my rear end said this is normal. If it's normal how come I could do doughnuts before & now I can't. Please help, it's very frustrating spending that kind of money & you still have the same problem. Thanks in advance.

I dont think that not doing donuts is a problem . My gears were installed a year ago, and I to rebuilt posi and new bearings. @ the track my ride will start to get sideways on burnout, but then driver side tire stops spinning. On the street both tires will fry till they die. You gotta remember the track is a super sticky surface. I am planning on rebuilding my posi again, but this time I'm gonna do it myself and use extra discs (couple of the old ones).John Oh BTW not to rag or anything but mid 14 w/ your mods seems slow to me. My coupe ran a 14.03 w/out cam intake & head work on a stock stall AOD and its a full weight car.

Take the rear cover off and get that stock retainer spring out of there and replace it with an F-150 spring. They are a lot beefier. I have one in mine and my car will get posi from a second gear roll and lay twin patches of rubber until the car grabs and goes. Neither feathers off before the other. I haven't tried a doughnut yet, but I know the car could easily make me dizzy.
