A/C Compressor.
Are AC compressors repairable? I'm not talking about the clutch...I'm talking about the valves in the actual compressor. I took mine into shop and it wasn't cooling as much. They said the valves weren't opening like they should and I would need to get a new or reconditioned compressor to cool well.
I know...the knee jerk response is to get rid of it, but I want to keep it comfortable as it's a daily driver and I live in the Rio Grande Valley and it's supposed to be in the humid 90's today, and it's only April... Maybe someone has a good one that I can do you the favor of taking off your hands??? Thanks FT |

They can be repaired, but it's much simpler to get a rebuilt one. Or, watch eBay for new & used ones.

Falcons Talon,
Whatever you do, don't buy a reman compressor by "Four Seasons"!!!!! I know Napa sells them and maybe Murrays too.... They are junk and will not last. I suggest checking out this site for any Auto A/C parts: http://www.acsource.com The sell reliable compressors and have good prices on other A/C parts and tools; you can also get technical support via email from them at: techhelp@acsource.com If you want to get information about "Do It Yourself" A/C work, check out this site: http://www.aircondition.com There's no need to pay a shop "BIG" bucks for A/C work. With a little info and some basic A/C tools, you can keep cool without breaking the bank. Phil |

Well, I took it into the A/C shop to get it checked for leaks...the guy said I have a leak in the evaporator core. They would charge $300 to replace/fix...I might do it myself and switch out the heater core while I have her ripped apart...So many projects, so little time...and MONEY!!!
