Spanked 2 more LS1 Z28's Last nite !!!
Well, tuesday nite was fun, i took out a ws6 LS1 trans am... and last nite (thursday) i took out two more LS1 z28's....
i ran out of spray early in the nite, so one of them was kind enough to let me borrow a fresh can of Atmosphere in a bottle!!! with that in place, we went down to the staging lane (evil grin) and we launched hard, he got me off the line cuz i was still weeding out my launch rpm.. but by 3rd gear i caught him and passed him hard, by 4th i was a solid 2 or 3 car lenghts in front and i let off... he has typical bolt ons.. CAI and cat-back exhaust 6 speed trans.. then, i raced the second ls1... this one had 373 gears and the typical ls1 boltons..plus 6 speed trans... we launched, and i got him out of the hole and all he saw was my tail lights all the way to top of 4th when i let off... VICTORY TO THE FORD !!!!!!!!!!! i must say, a 150 shot does wonders for a puny stock block 302 with a small cam (crane 2040, same as E303). i was also on my slicks. Hoosier 26x9. launch rpm was 3000... drop the hammer and whack it to WOT... as soon as 3000 rpms comes around again... SPRAY .. progressive up to 5000 rpm when its at full power whoever loves to race... if you wanna beat a car with 100 more rwhp than you, you better get a can of atmosphere both of those cars dynoed over 320 rwhp with just bolt-ons... my car dynoed 221 rwhp. I'm really leaning towards a bottle of laughing gas. I have changed almost every part on my stang, but I have not touched the ignition. Are you running an aftermarket ignition? Do you recommend using one?

I am using an MSD 6AL & MSD EFI Blaster Coil.
if you are gonna use the N20, then make sure you use a good strong ignition system, along with some colder plugs, i suggest nothing hotter than an NGK 7 racing plug... they are under $2. each, so its not a big deal to get them. i suggest no less than a 125 HP shot for a stang... anything less is not going to be effective enough to make it faster than even a stock LS1... trust me, GM advertises 310 hp, or 305. .. but any stock ls1 dynoes 300 +/- rwhp bone stock. also, get roller rockers. and a good exhaust system, if you can, get the BIGGEST exhaust possible... nitrous loves to breathe out ! the increased cylinder temperature must be released faster, or you'll melt exhaust valves... good luck !!!! |

I run the stock ignition system, RC9YC Champion plugs at .035, and spray with 15 degrees of timing.

Dude that is a lot of timing for spray !!!
well, i guess it depends on how much advance you have after your initial timing.... do you have a custom chip burned for nitrous ? if not, how do you avoid detonation ? do you use racing fuel ? or regular pump fuel like i do? my jacobs mastermind retards my timing 7 degrees while on the 150 shot.. i know its a lot of retard, but i'm not rich, i'd rather loose 10-15 hp and not detonate than blow the stock motor or blow head gaskets or melt pisons or valves.... let me know please !!! |

dude thats a great reply ! hehaha i cant figure out where it starts or ends !
i suggest the NX nitrous kit for your stang, from what i've read, you can get into the 12's on a stock motor with that kit ,its a dry kit specifically made to work with the returnless fuel system on the new 4.6L's... one more thing, the kit does not include any timing adjustment capabilities... so you have have to invest in a custom chip burned for nitrous that wont advance the timing too much while on spray that way, you can beef up the fuel system, and spray more!!! YES YES!! i got to get some n20, its a whole different car, read my post "killing f-bods" my friend already blows away stock ls1's on motor, but his car is wicked, we left his timing a 11, although the pros told him it should be around 8-10 for spray, he also has an msd 6al ignition with NGK plugs.
My friend hit the nos while we were going home from the track, i was sold on that, that ****** car raised up and took off with my head nailed to the seat of that recaro even left marks on the asphalt in 3rd gear! but my high milage stang prolly couldnt take a 150 shot ------------------ 90 lx coupe:5spd, 176k miles, steeda water pump pulley, Mac cold air fenderwell, Mac h-pipe, supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs.
