Help! Auto to Tremec 3550 problems
I just tried to start my mustang with the new tranny and the starter wont engage the flywheel. I have a McCloud blowproof bellhousing and I ground out the spacer (like my instructions said) so the starter is setting farther out. Is that where the starter is supposed to be for a tremec 3550. It sounds like the starter is kicking out to try to engage but I must have put the starter out to far on the bellhousing. Also, the clutch pedal safty switch isnt working. I unplugged 3 connectors on the clutch pedal and still could get the starter to spin.
Thanks, Greg |

You don't need the spacer. I know they say you do, but you don't. The TR3550 is designed as a direct factory replacement. Try removing the spacer and see how it lines up.

The spacer is already out. Are you saying that the spacer should have stayed in so that the starter is closer?

I just found out that it needed to be in the closer spot. The spacer should have remained. This is because the flywheel stayed the same as for T-5. The only problem I have now is the clutch interlock always allows the started to activate regardless clutch position. Does anyone have any ideas? At least I can drive it now.
