73 MM C&L MAF- will this work?
I was planning on getting a C&L 73 MM MAF and 30# Injectors- Is the 73 MM MAF a drop in unit as far as installation (unbolt my stock MAF and bolt in a 73 MM MAF)? Will I have to add anything else other then the 73 MM MAF to run these 30# Injectors (electronics, etc.)? What electronics to I need to buy/add? What are the tubes I read about for the injectors- is this considered the electronics or other extra's I need to buy? Thanks,

You use the electronics from your factory meter. When you order the meter you specify which injectors you will be running with the meter. If you change injectors later you just buy the correct sample tube and install it.

Thanks for your reply. Is there any advantage to using the units that come with the electronics that cost more?
Thanks, Jeff 90 GT |

Yes the C&L is a drop in unit, you just transfer the Hitach Hot Wire Sensor on top of your stocker to the new unit, like previously mentioned, you tell whoever you order it from what injectors you have and they will send the right sample tube along with the new unit, it is usually installed upon delivery.
I had this same meter and it worked well, but there IS an advantage with the other units that are flowed, not so much a PERFORMANCE advantage, but a unit such as a Pro-M , the sensor and unit are put on a flow bench and matched perfectly, this helps DRIVEABILITY big time now and in the future as your package progresses. I also commend you on your choice of 30 pound injectors rather than 24's, 24's barely outperform stock 19's and the 30's allow you to build on them with good driveability, BUT, like I said you don't need 'em now, but when you do upgrade, go with the 30's. By the way, did you guy's know that Bob Atwood, Owner and President of Pro-M died, I have talked to him on several occasions, he was a true pioneer in our sport. Good luck!

If your running 30# injectors you must have some big horsepower running through your motor. You'd probably be better off with the 76mm unit then the 73mm unit. It is a drop in mod, you just transfer over the module from the original maf. C&L will send you the torx bit you'll need and set you up with whatever size sample tube you want if you order from them. I've got both C&L's the 73mm and the 76mm. I went with the 76mm because i'm putting on some new heads, intake and cam with assorted other extra's and I'll be going with a 70mm tb for the new combo.
