Default Tires

Hey all. The tires on my ponies have had it. I wanted to know what your opinions are on a set of descent tires. I'd like to have wider tires, at the rear, to have that signature, "I'm going to eat you for breakfast" look. Thank you for your help.

What year is your car and what size wheels does it have?

I have a set of 275/50 15" Nitto drag radials on the back of mine, they have a real aggresive looking tread pattern and are pretty wide too

Oh I forgot to mention its a Black 91' LX with 16" factory pony rims. The tires are factory as well(225/60/16 I think.) What I want is to have a look similar to my Welds. When standing facing the front of the car you look down one side and The rear meats buldge over the rear rims and the fronts are slightly tucked. I once had a set of ponies I did this to and I loved it. Sorry for talking too much. Thanks again for your help

I think the biggest you go with on those rims is 255/60/16's and the only ones I know of are the BFG D/R's. Nitto only makes a 245/50/16 D/R and that's what I have. You want serious rubber out back you'll need wider rims.

Thanks. I'll check those out. Another option is to get 17" rims. I wouldn't know wether to go 5 lug and have many options or go with the smaller selection available for 4 lug. I've seen some nice looking rims such as Tenzo's on some imports, but I'd have to call Tenzo to find out info and I work a night shift at the moment. Oh well, no excuses. I would love to have some kind of list that tells me what wheels I can put on my stang. Do you know of a site that has such a list? Thanks again

Here are a couple of sites that I've looked at, we're looking at new wheels and tires for our 88GT:

For beefy tires, i think 15x8 welds are the best, the e.t. streets look so tough on mine, but i understand, not everyone wants to drive daily on these.

I have 275-17 nitto dr on cobra(93s) rims that are 7 in...

you want that agressive look-BFG makes a beefy DR for the Ponys..my son has em his car and look awesome.

BTW-nitto just came out with a whole slew of tire sizes but I am not sure if any decent 16in ones were includes....they now have a 315-17 DR....ummmmm with they would fit...maybe I will have get the rear cobras widened...LOL
