03Cobra Vs Z06?
Ok, I have this "A" you know what at work that swears Ford sucks & all the other B.S. that goes with the whole Ford, Chevy argument we all deal with.
I argue with this guy all the frickin time about the Cobra & the Z06 & which one would win in the quarter mile. I told him the Cobra was under rated & really makes about 425 but all he says is that's just B.S. from Ford to sell them. I just wanted to know what you guys had to say about this.

well according to a few different sources the cobra stomps zo6 butt all around, in muscle mustangs and fast fords they took the '03 cobra to the track and in completly stock trim it went 12.67@110 on street tires then they removed the intake tube and changed the blower pulley down 1 size and ran a 12.01@118 on street tires this month they are going to run it on slicks and take about 150# of crap out of it i bet it runs low 11's lets see a z06 do that and for the price of $33,125

Actually there are several z06 owners that have run 12.0x @117mph, with only drag radials! They typically dyno around 360rwhp. My 03 cobra dynoed 372rwhp. but the problem is my car weighs 600lbs more! But with a $100ish pulley My car is capable of zo6 times. Most z06's are running 12.5's at 113mph, Only the good drivers are able to pull the low 12's. this is the 02 zo6 405hp car not the 01 385hp zo6. the 01 zo6's comes down to drivers! jmho. But hey I'm happy, i spent $35K for the car and $1400 in mods and have 440rwhp! I think my car will give any stock z06 a run for it's money

it prob would come down to the driver. but the gm folks are just mad because the slomaro is extinct and the cobra would eat any of the camaro lineup and spit out the bones. for the money you can't beat the svt cobra..i wish i had 34,000..now taking donations. lol

ok the '03 cobra weighs in at 3875(damn cast iron block) bone stock it went 12.43@ 113 and on the dyno made 381.3hp and 374.8 lbft torque then they changed the blower pulley for a lightning pulley and removed the factory air filter and dynoed 441.2hp and 458.4 lbft torque and went 12.01@118mph on street tires then they removed the front anti sway bar and slapped on some et-streets and went 11.68@119.36 all on premium pump gas(93 octane) next is 4.10 gears full exhaust and a chip lets see a pos z06 do that even at 700 lbs less.

I would say stock vs stock, the ZO6 wins easily. With a few mods, the 03 Cobra can take them though. I have watched a few ZO6s make passes and they move quite well. I watched an 01 with a K&N and cat-back run 12.30s @ 117 mph+ all day. The fastest I have seen an 03 Cobra go was 12.63 @ 112.xxx, but the track temps were 105+ degrees. God help us if we run into a ZO6 with spray, blower or LPE TT kit.

damn guys a hard top '03 cobra costs $33,125 how much is a z06 $55,000+. please the cobra is alot faster corners better and pulls higher g-pad #'s for alot less and for less then $100 you have a car that run's 12.01 @118 (blower pulley) on street tires and lets not mention that the cobra weighs 700lbs more than the vette i have seen plenty of z06's locally at the track and on the street and personally i have never seen 1 break 12.70. and I have handed everyone that dared to race me their arse. hell a '01 hatch couldn't even beat my wifes mostly stock '88 gt( it has a few minor boltons) and beleive me he was trying like hell. even my chevy buddies all think the vette is a joke if any of you guys own vettes or ss camaros or firebirds 2002 or before of course i can't wait until you line up next to and '03 cobra then we will see how fast you think you are then.

About the SS and T/A...
I have an 02 Gt and a friend has a 00 SS. He is consistently beating me by 0.8 secs. I have made a few mods and so as he. We went and Dyno'd and he was pulling (based on a calculation of 18% loss to the rear wheels) 100 more bhp than me. We are not even in the same league. I have told him time and time again, "give me 100 more hp and I will beat you every time." The 03 Cobra evens that odds a little bit. Lets see an SS with the same HP as the 03 Cobra run against an 03 Cobra. It is akin to my 280 bhp GT running against a stock Honda Civic. There is no comparison. HP for HP and $ for $ the 03 Cobra is right in line with the SS's and the WS6 T/A's but nobody will every compare them - they say that they are not in the same league. |

now all the camaro guys are crying that it's not fair that the cobra has a blower but they never said anything when the ss was faster than the cobra and had 65 more cubic inches
