serious ignition problem?
Okay, this is drivings me crazy. My car starts up fine every morning, but if I go for a short trip, say 5 minutes away, and try to start it up again, it won't start. I let the car sit for a while before attempting again, and then it might or might not fire up. I repeat this process till it does start. The ignition rotates, butit just won't fire up. My car also occasionally dies on me out of the blue when I'n driving along and I have to go throught this process again. My fuel pressure is at 32 psi at idle, max 40 psi when I punch it, and the hold pressure is around 30 psi when I try to start up. I've changed the ignition module already and my mods include headers, h-pipes, exhaust, pulleys K&N filter system, MSD blaster coil and wires. This only happens on short trips, when I drive for 15 minutes or more, I don't notice this happening, but the car may cut out. If anybody has had this problem or has any idea, please let me know. I'd like to make it home without problems for once. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

that's just damn weird.
All i can think of is checking if any grounds are loose or if they may be well grounded. Did this problem start after any specific modifications you performed? |

g4life,
Have you checked the fuel pressure right when it dies? Mine recently did the same thing; sometimes I could drive it all day, then out of the blue it would just quit. Wait 5 minutes and it would fire up. Damn thing drove me nuts, I was looking at things like the pick-up coil, ignition coil, TFI module just to name a few. It never dawned on me to check the fuel pressure but then it hit me, It was behaving like fuel line vapor lock... Turned out to be the fuel pump intermittently quitting. Put a new 190lph pump in it and all’s well. Hope you find your problem soon! Phil |
