Help re-curving 351W duraspark distributor
Hi,
My 358W is back together with about 425 HP. We are still breaking the engine in and I hope to get a pass off at the track before our weather turns PREDICTABLY WET and COLD in the Pacific Northwest. My last engine was detonating or predetonating. My racing buddies suggested I disconnect the vacume advance on my durospark distributor. However, I have to set initial timing at 4 degrees to get keep the timing below 32 degrees at 4,000 RPM. Problem is the advance is not done!!!! What tool do you use to remove the magnetic star from the shaft. I know it is held by a spring pin, but the access hole is like microscopic. Has anyone re-arc'd their own? If so, do you have any advice on what springs to start with and how I can limit the total advance?
