Rear disc brakes in an 88GT upgrade
A friend of mine told me he say on TV that you can take the rear end out of a Lincoln with rear discs and use it as a bolt on disc brake upgrade? Does this work? Has anyone done it? What year and model of Lincoln.
Thanks KG88GT |

Ok, you can take the complete rearend from a late model Lincoln Versaile (Not sure on the spelling) for the swap. Everything will bolt up right. One problem is the Gear Ratios. This Lincoln came with a 3.00 & 3.51
The 3.51 is very rare to find. I am unsure on what year, but some models will have different E-Brake cable hookups. I did this swap and installed a 4.10 gear set w/ a 31 Spline Auburn Locker & C-Clip Eliminators behind a 396 Stroker, it's still making weekly passes down the track. your other option would be an 87-88 turbo coupe. It has factory 3.73 gear and you will need all related brake parts(master cylinder etc.) If you want 5 lug you could go with a SVO mustang, but this is a bit harder to find.

Under rear disc on e-bay they are selling backing plates. Use 10 in. rotors and cadi. rear calipers. This setup will use your master cylinder. The backing plates are about 90 bucks.
