Question Throttle Body question

Would my car benifit from a larger throtle body? If so, what size?

Your engine would benefit from adding a 65mm TB, however I would consider upgrading the exhaust, first.

I have an offroad h pipe, flowmaster catback system. Also how can i tell what size tb i have now?

I believe that the stock tb size is either 58mm or 60mm. Usually if you have a aftermarket tb, it will say the brand name right on top of it.

It would have the name if it was something other than a Ford TB. Do you still have the stock headers? If so get rid of those things. I'd suggest long tubes, but they are a pain to install so that's up to you. After that a 65mm TB would be a good next mod.

When I posted my response your signature was - as you said - messed up and didn't contain the exhaust info it now shows.

The stock throttle body is 60mm. You can measure it (inside diameter) using a string, if necessary.

If you bought the car with the GT40 heads and Cobra intake installed, it should have had the TB upgraded too but you won't know for sure without measuring it.

doesnt the cobra intake have a 65mm opening where the EGR spacer bolts up to it? i think it does

if you are having trouble measuring it, then pull off the intake tube and (by hand) open the throttle body valve and look inside to see if there is a difference in the size of the TB/EGR spacer and the intake inlet port

Hmm it seems to me that a upgrade from a 60 mm to a 65 mm TB is pretty mild. According to my MAC catalog, they recomend their 70 mm TB even for a stock intake. Heck even the 4.6 takes a 65 mm stock and they put 70 mm upgrades on those.

Of course I have a totally stock intake system except for a K&N filter and removed silencer, so I have absolutley no experience here.

While going from 60mm to 65mm doesn't sound like much, you are increasing the cross-sectional area by over 17%.
As for 70mm on a stock 5.0, you will lose power.

take it from somebody who has had both a 70MM BBK and a 65MM Ford motorsport. 65MM is the way to go, and also the ford TB is much better quality than the BBK,. not to mention cheaper. You lose throttle response with the 70 mm and simply dont need it. Saleen uses a 65 mm on his S-351.
