GT40P heads
Will the GT40P heads be a great street head with GT40 intake, 65mm T/B, 24lbs inj., Custom grind cam (so don't know really what to say for cam, maybe close to a Ecam). I really like the idea of these heads from reading and staying with my budget. If I can find GT40 heads would they be almost as good or should I wait to find the P's, the GT40 with a port job seem pretty nice but not as much torque.
BTW does anyone know where I can get these heads cause I have been looking everywhere? Central coast mustang nothing, really dont want to buy off ebay, none in near by junk yards, kar kraft looks like they only have GT40 no GT40P's.

Re: GT40P heads
Many people have argued over which gt-40 head is better, The P's have a smaller exhaust valve, but better angle on the plug to allow free flowing. And the non p head is a bigger exhaust valve, I like em better for the fact that they dont need a special header.
So i say get whatever one is cheapest at the time, I bought mine from a guy on a local stang website here in tx. good luck

Re: GT40P heads
I think the P head makes a great street head. Never had mine on the dyno but it makes lots of tq down low and pulls to redline with the B cam and 1.72 rr. I got mine from Central Coast Mustang once upon a time.

Re: GT40P heads
I am having a hard time finding them. I would think since the GT40 intake gives alot of tq and the head does as well it would make a for a good tq monster.

try copy and pasting this link and you can see the flow numbers from all different heads. i would say they are worth it especially after a little port work , gasket matching and cleaning up the runners and bowl. i also have bbk long tube headers bolted to my p heads and use chevy 90 degree plug boots and have no problems w/ the headers. |

Re: GT40P heads
If you buy GT40 heads now you will just want to buy good aluminum heads later.
If you look around Trickflow and Edelbrock aluminum heads go for 5-600 all the time. I paid 600 bux for my Canfields.

Re: GT40P heads
I want to stay with iron heads. This is my daily driver and always will be, I will one day buy another stang for just pure racing. Is there any better iron heads then these?

Re: GT40P heads
I am looking at only having about 600$ for heads, the reason that I want to get them done now is the car was poorly taken care of so I need to take the whole 5.0 apart and back together right.
Valve covers leak, Head gasket very small leak, Oil pan missing a bolt that is stripped, with sensor hole stripped so is filled with some kind of crap to hold it in, headers keep leaking even if I thighten the bolts back up, pcv all needs replacing so easier to do once apart, I have the GT40 intake, 24lb injectors, fuel reg, 65mm T/B and such that needs to be put on but I don't want just stock heads to go back on if I can get something better with my budget if you know what I mean. Motor mounts real bad and I mean bad, never been replaced and car is a 87 so you get the drift. Timing chain I probaly need to replace also, and oil pump maybe and such.

Re: GT40P heads
What about the other company I showed earlier in this thread that had the P's for 550 with all work done?
Thanks for that link. I had went to their actual site and they didn't show those.
