Post TEST DROVE A 99' & 00' SS

Well guys, I went and test drove a 2000 SS 6-speed with a number of SLP mod's exhaust, hurst shifter etc....then I went and drove a 1999 SS 6-speed, and guys I WAS not impressed one bit, my stang pulls just as hard if not harder. 3rd gear on the SS is stronger but for around 20 G's+ it's not worth it, Killer interior and all, but....I guess I was expectng too much. Everyone says how bad these new SS's are, well I don't see it. Just thought you guys might like to know.

Hmm... They are pretty damn fast. I dunno. Its definatly nice for a new car. Luxury, good stereo and lots of power. Your car probably doesnt trap 108.

Well I drive my stang everyday, and I drove each one for around 30 minutes. And they are not that fast. Especially for the money. I was GOING TO GET IT MAN, BEFORE I TEST DROVE ONE. So if it was so f'ing fast, don't you think I would've got it? All I was saying was there not all they are cracked up to be. Not that my mustang could beat one in the 1/4 as it sits. My bike and truck trap faster than 108, alot faster. Maybe I'm spoiled by them? So...anyway I'm just waiting on my new motor for the stang. Also my car doesn't have the top-end of an SS, it's slighty faster like maybe 4mph in the 1/4, but (still have the stock heads on mine). Not for long though... See ya.

You'd probably be suprised at how they are "not that fast" I'd bet that if you were lined up next to one, you'd see that they are a little faster than they feel. My buddy has a Supercharges 92 LX with exhaust, 3.73's and a Chip, he runs 108-109's and he ran door to door with a stock 00 WS-6, so I'd say that they are pretty darn fast.

Well it's not that it wan't fast, because it was. Just not as "FAST" as I expected. My car felt stronger 1st, 2nd, 3rd+ in the SS felt stronger than mine, but I was just expecting to be throwin in my seat the whole time I guess. What I was thinking in my head, was instead of paying $500 month, I'm going to buy a new motor etc...and I would absolutely destroy one. And it was a super nice car and all, as I said before, interior was killer. But as far as making me want to buy one, it really didn't. Maybe it was the payments pursuading me. =P

I dont know what you expected but they ARE a real fast STOCK car, make no bones about it. I would fix your car up if I were you. Anybody can buy a car. If you fix yours up there will only be ONE like it......stick it out youll be much happier

Yeah that is what I said I'm keeping my car. I go my hood on today! Looks awesome. Yeah there fast, but it didn't make me want to say holy shiot! I don't know, for all you guys that haven't drove one, I suggest do it just for an experience. They had an SS on a car lift and I was looking at the stock exhaust and after the cats, the exhaust is probaly 2.5" and then it smashes flat to about 1 and a half inch tall maybe. I think it is very restrictive. The one with the SLP exhaust etc...felt lot more peppier! But all in all, I think I just need my cobra R's back. Let's end this discussion about SS's, more stang talk please. Sorry I brought it up. Any way have you guys drove one?

hmmmmm... my brother is a trans am guy, and he just sold his old one to buy a new one, it doesn't feel fast because they are so damn heavy, almost a full 4000 lbs, but they move let me tell you. I've been driving his new one for a few days now... its pretty quick... i drive the same route every day to work at the same time so i see all the same cars on the road 5 days a week... and cars i struggled to beat in my stang i easily pull away from with his... it made me sick cause it feels slow, but it isn't... sorry, but the bad guys are fast...

I think the reason I wasn't "too" impressed, because the power was so smooth. I like a car that just hits hard. I don't know...Nice car though.

yea i think the car felt slower for 2 main reasons..
-the power comes on incredable smooth
-the car prolly wasnt as loud as your car and you assosiate the loudness when you get on it with ur mustang to no noise when you get on the ls1 and even if it is as quick your mind is waiting for the scream at WOT

My uncle have a 00' ws6 and his best e.t. was 13.31 bone stock. It accelerate pretty smooth but it have so much traction. If this car had a 4 link suspension with this level of power it would probably be 2-3 tenth slower. I think it's gonna be the next mod on my stang, a torque arm suspension.
