V6 Camaros killing 5.0's regularly?
At LS1.com there are two different posts about six cyl camaros (even a 91) and firebirds whooping on 5.0's like it aint no thang. Look under "The one that didnt get away" One guy even claims that he whooped on a 99-01 GT repeatedly, even from a roll. LS1 camaros are fast, but even their ego is starting to grow like a fungus.

the newer v-6's had some power(215) but they are shy on power and weigh more..they would need to be modded..but even then..how many bone stock 5.0's are rolling around..was prolly a fluke or he is a troll

This guys full of **** . He's probably just trying to tell som fake stories just to look cool. I think it's funny, because those guys didn't believe him either, if you pay attention to his details it's funny as hell. But when I had my 89 4 cyl. I smoked an SS 6-speed not once but twice, I mean 3 times. Jim

We have two local guys running 13.X (best is 13.6) with headers, gears and nitrous on their automatic V6 firebirds. (sorry no crapmaros ) Should be interesting to see what these guys do with converters once they get them.

Yeah, with GEARS and NITROUS! Nothing evens up the score like a 200 shot and some 410's. Put that crap on my car and I show you a low 11 - high 10. OR put that same crap on a real crapmaro...an LS1.

Maybe it was a 6 banger with 5.0/GT badges... I've seen a few, as well as a few 6 banger camaro's with Z28 badges...
After reading the post, my guess is he definately couldn't tell the difference. LMAO No one there, even the camaro guys believes him. He's a serious newbie or probably just trying to start flames... My stepbrother just got a 2000 V6 Camaro (3800 series, or whatever they call em). I rip his car a new a$$hole. Not exactly, but I definately win, by a lot. I give him the jump, and I FLY past him. He cant do anything about it

From what I've read, don't the new V-6 Camaro's have about 200 hp (Stock)? The 5.0's (Fox) I believe were rated at 225 hp. (Stock). Stock vs stock it should be a good race, but the mustang has a slight hp advantage.
He's updated the post and says it was a "real" 5.0. But if you read his story, a lot of other things don't add up (ie shifting into 5th at 80 and flooring it and pulling with 4 people in the car). ------------------ 1997 Black Cobra Convertible. #2788 of 3088 Mostly Stock 1988 5.0 LX Convertible -Work Car...Few Mods. |

I've seen a Honda Civic beat a viper so whats your point. I don't really see a stock V-seis camaro beating anything with 5 liters even an explorer.

My friend has a 97 v6 Camaro with intake and exhaust and he beat a v8 mustang. The stang he beat was one of the slowest it was a 95 convertible auto. He would most likely lose to a 5 speed non covertible.

someone needs to raise the BS flag over there on LS1.com. I think it's hilarious how none of the Chevy guys even tried to back him up...

Jaydee, i dont see how "150,000" miles would make anything really slower? it depends how ragged it actually is, my car has 160k, runs smooth, and runs impressive times IMO.
But yea a 95Gt vert aod is a bit slow. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. Best time: 14.20(on 225/60/15 firehawks) Best mph 97.80 Best 60' 2.1 next mods: subframes, 3.73's |
