Question Cam question

The set up I'm planning to go with is cold air induction, 65mm tb, cobra intake, afr 165 heads, 1.7 rockers, and long tubes through a flowmaster exhaust. My question is how much benefit would I get from changing to an aftermarket cam? What cam would you choose if this was your set up? Also, will I need to swap injectors ar MAF?

Really depends on what you want from your combo. Te Comnp Extreme Energy cams have some nice off the shelf grinds that will really wake up that combo, or you could go to Anderson or FTI for more of a custom grind. My AFM really woke up my combo anfd it was money very well spent, I would go to atleast a 24#injectors and a 75MM if you want a Pro-M or thr 76mm C&L which I have had great results with.

I would suggest going with a bigger cam and getting 1.6 rockers as the 1.7's add a lot of stress and they change the geometry of the valve train a little.

To make power to 6000rpm you'll need a cam with around 228 duration @ .050

My AFM N-61 makes power till around 6300 on my car, will make more as soon as the heads get ported and I get it more needed fuel it's .544/.568 228/236 110.

If you don't want to fly cut the pisions the AFM N-4 will work good and it has got guys running in the 11's.

I would go ahead and get a 70mm TB as I swapped my 65mm for a 75mm and saw no loss in low end just a slight gain in the high RPm and it isn't port matched to my intake yet so I expect a gain after I do that.

I won't be at the track much (if at all) but I want to hold my own with C4 corvettes and newer firebirds and camaros. My goal is 300rwhp and about a 12.9 in the 1/4. Will my combo get me there without a cam swap or is it a must.

Well you may be able to do it with the factory cam but since it will all be apart I would go with a aftermarket cam for sure it will help a good bit, maybe the F-303 if you want to stay motorsport or look at those XE grinds. The crane 51014 seems to run really good for guys too.
