removing window tint
i wanna replace my old fading tint and get some slapped on by a shop, but i assume the shop will charge extra per window to remove my old tint right? do they charge extra? so, whats the best way to take it off myself and remove adhesive? expecially the rear window with defroster

It's a SLOW process. I had the bubbly purple tint too. It's single-edge razorblade everywhere but the back window. There you should use solvents and a hairdryer. Hairdryer first and try to peel the plastic off SLOWLY using almost no force. You need to be careful with solvents or you will detach the defroster strips too. I'm crazy about the stuff so I just used tire silicone. It has just enough solvent to get the job done and the lubrication keeps you from scratching the foil off. Peel back a corner where there is no defroster at the top and spray in the solvent. Then pull very very very gently and it will painfully slowly peel away.
I hate tint for this one reason alone.

just peel the old tint off and spray it with plain old windex and use a razor scraper (careful for the defroster)it will come off sorta like wet glue. when you go to apply6 the new tint use non amonia based window cleaner and newspaper to clean it . remember any little speck of dirt will show up big time under the tint. the best time to put it on is at night and put a work light onthe outside of the area you are working on . any imperfections will show up better.

Tint really sucks to remove. I got a ticket for it and had to take mine off too. I used a razorblade and any kind of degreaser I could find and started peeling. I even used some paint thinner to help get off the sticky crap left on there afterwards. You think you have it all off but that films is still there it took me awhile to get it all. Good luck, I rather have paid the ticket!
