3 spd trany

I have heard a rumor that some 3 speed tran. in 65 and 66 are acutally 4 speed tran. that have had the 4th gear removed. This sounds fishy to me. Any truth to the rumor?

ive heard that 3rd gear was taken out and 4th gear was made to 3rd. Im a little sketchy on the whole thing too...dont sound quite right
